Palm Fountain

Palm trees never fail to offer an exotic element to a scene. The town hall in this village high in the Provençal mountains sports a graceful palm, sandwiched between a fountain and staircase. In a place that can have both snow and sweltering heat, this tree reminds one that it's possible to beat all odds with style. Painted with bold brush strokes, it makes a strong, yet understated visual statement. The carved silver frame reiterates the palm motif and brings the total size of the work to almost 16x16.
