Open Doors, Open Window

Whispers of Light
Introducing "Open Doors,cOpen Window," a 24x30 oil painting that captures an intimate interior scene. The shadowed doorway and window in the foreground not only introduce an element of mystery to the painting, but they also frame the sunlit kitchen beyond. With its own pink curtained door and window ajar, warm, rich colors permeate the central theme of the canvas, with sunlight casting a radiant glow that adds depth and complexity to the scene.
Inspired by the contrast between illumination and darkness, the symbolism of open doors and windows, and the rustic charm of a cozy cottage on the Seine where I painted some years ago, I utilized both the loose gestures of a palette knife and the precise strokes of a brush. The result is a harmonious blend of textures, inviting viewers into a warm and welcoming atmosphere beyond the mysterious foreground. I've spent a lifetime being grateful for the welcome, hope, opportunity and possibility that open doors and windows have offered. No wonder I'm called to paint them.
