The Possibilities of Open Doors

Interiors are microcosms of the world beyond. As an artist, each feature becomes a symbol of some aspect of life. Open doors illicit possibility, hope and potential. Open Doors is a small painting with a large impact. Although much of the composition lies in various degrees of shadow, it features not one, but two wide open doors. The filtered light from the draped window in the foreground and sharp sun beaming through the open doorway beyond the first one offer the viewer an opportunity to imagine their own sun-drenched garden outdoors. The green of that open door is a visual "yes" to all of Life's "no's"  we encounter.

I love being able to paint cues that give each viewer license to fill in details from their own lives. How about you? When have you had the joy of seeing light break through the green door of your life? Savor it!
