Painting the cold of February

FEBRUARY, Stebner 8x10 plein air oil on linen panel

I'm want to include unnecessary details to a painting when I'm out on the scene. I find myself trying to be a visual reporter rather than an artistic interpreter. Such paintings haunt me back in the studio until I resolve the conflict I've created. February was one of those paintings. This old house sits on the edge of our side of town, where the Cuyahoga Valley spreads beyond. It's a painting any time of year. To read more about it, click here. To see it in person, stop by the studio one of the days listed below!
