October found me in the Alps south of Lake Geneva. It was chilly day dedicated to exploring, so paints mhad been left behind. But an artist's eyes are always recording images in the library of memory. And sometimes it takes time to assimilate the truth and essence of a place or experience to be able to paint it. This winter was a time to begin painting such moments from memory. It becomes a profound experience to unite forms and feelings remembered into a painting. Painting in this manner avoids the temptation to include extraneous details. More and more for me, it's about finding the essense. In so doing, even the smallest formats can contain the grandest horizons successfully.
