Quiet Entry, 12x16 oil on linen. Custom framed size approx. 17x21. How does one paint Quiet? That was the challenge in this artwork. I played with the various natural light sources to accomplish it in this work, keeping the color at a minimum until I finally felt I could give it a little punch without destroying the mood set by both the composition and the unlit areas of these spaces. the viewers's eye is drawn not only through the open doorway into the open chair beyond, but also up the stairway to chambers unseen.
