Palm, Fountain, Stair: The visual poetry of Life's sustenance

It's always surprising to see a palm of any sort high in a mountain village which can see snow in winter. And to an Ohio boy, they are always exotic.

While in Provence this September, I painted the grand palm by the town hall fountain in Chateaudouble twice. Both small paintings fit easily into my suitcase. A few weeks after coming home, I painted one of them again in a slightly larger format. All three paintings explore the symbols of shade, water, and stairs: the sustenance which sees us through Life's challenges.

See them for yourself here in the studio some Saturday between 11:00 and 4:00 from now until December 18. The studio is open. I look forward to sharing these and many more visual memories with you!
