For artists, being alone is part of the deal. That's how we work best. No distractions. Keeping home sheltering productive, I've continued my series of single subjects. My painting of Luca has been the only one that wasn't a flower, to date.

Painting so many flowers from the garden has strengthened my painting chops. In the balance of the week, I plan to get them all on my web site. Most are already framed and ready to ship. Anything you can do to help them find homes will be most appreciated! In the meantime, stay well and find a special internal sense of peace in this time when so many of life's distractions have been culled from our daily routine!

Making Friends with Solitude and Shadows

While the art world has been overshadowed by obsessions over toilet paper, economic politics, and hand sanitizer in this science fiction, pandemic world, I'm making the most of the flat line in business to concentrate on gaining skills. Now, as I approach new works, Why takes precedence over What, letting How follow in their wake. While painting, I'm putting the brush down more frequently to analyze progress more critically. In so doing, I've been able to paint subtler emotions than before. Colors now grow out of quiet, mysterious shadows, like our happiness rises from the isolation of Covid stress.
Patiently Waiting, Luca Style is a tongue-in-cheek response to our new life, without dinner guests.
